What gets listed, what stays unknown, and what happens when something changes.
What events do you list?
Public events in Shenzhen that have enough checked information to help someone evaluate attendance. Nearby cities, private-group content, unsupported promotions, and listings without a credible attendance route are excluded or held.
Is expatDB only for expatriates?
No. The directory is written to make Shenzhen easier to navigate in English, but the events and information are for anyone who finds that useful.
Are all events in English?
No. Language is shown when the source supports it. An English listing explains the event; it does not imply that the program, host, or venue operates in English.
How often are listings checked?
Every published event carries a last-checked date. Upcoming records are reviewed on a risk-based schedule, with higher urgency for near-term, changed, or reported events.
Where does the information come from?
Official venue and organizer pages, public institutions, permitted public listings, and other registered discovery routes. The listing policy explains the limits.
How do I attend an event?
Use the attendance action on the event page to reach the official registration, ticketing, organizer, QR, or walk-in instructions. Verify final price, access, and suitability there before traveling.
Why is a price or location unknown?
Because the public source did not state it clearly enough to publish. Unknown is not converted to free, and location to be confirmed is not assigned to a district.
How do I report incorrect information?
Use “Report a problem” on the event page. The report is stored for review and cannot directly change the public listing.
Can I add my own event?
Not in the launch MVP. Organizer accounts and managed event submissions are on the roadmap; for now, use Contact to suggest a public source we should review.
Why are schools and other topics marked coming soon?
Events are the first focused product. Expanding only after that foundation is reliable keeps future directories from becoming shallow placeholder pages.
How does the weekly email work?
A new address must confirm by email before joining. The roundup is prepared from checked upcoming events and is sent at most once for each weekly issue.
How is AI used?
Models may help discover, translate, extract, normalize, and compare public information. Outputs stay linked to evidence and do not gain publication authority merely because a model produced them.
